Whoa, it's been awhile since I last posted. And you know, I don't even know if anyone reads this. BUT THEN AGAIN, I NEVER POST. So I guess it's my fault, really.
Ah well. What's today, Wednesday? Jeez, time kinda flies. At least it's SNOWING. FUN TIMES.
So let's see.
You know what's been occupying a large portion of my time? TV shows. I mean it's like, I've got Lost, Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Dollhouse, Lie to Me, American Dad...how do I keep up with them all, you know?
And then I'm going to start two NEW shows. Although, they're short, so I don't think it really matters.
AND KAMEN RIDER KIVA. WOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Okay maybe that was unnecessary. Yes, I've been watching Kamen Rider Kiva. Since I assume you, my loyal readers, have never heard of/will watch this show, I'm pretty sure I can go into depth about the finale without worrying about spoiling anything for you. But in case you're anal about that sort of thing, I'll mark it. Or mark it so you can skip the whole thing altogether. I guess.
**SPOILERS ABOUND**
The Kamen Rider series is very popular in Japan. The basic premise is something akin to Power Rangers, but usually with only one hero, known as Kamen Rider. And like Power Rangers, there are different Kamen Riders. The latest (not as of this post) was known as Kamen Rider Kiva.
This show did something different straight from the bat. It was like watching TWO shows. We had the past, and the present. The present had the main characters, Kamen Rider Kiva (known as Wataru, for simplicity), and you know, etc. The past featured his father, and how everything came to be in the present. But it wasn't REVEALED entirely until like, the end. The time gap was 22 years, so it was like, they were revealing information in the past, and it answered questions that you saw in the present. It also answered past questions (things that occured in the "present" on previous episodes) and such. And so, this show caught my eye. I kept watching it.
BUT THEN IT TURNED INTO THIS DRAMA ROMANCE LOVE TRIANGLE EXTRAORDINAIRE. And I was like THIS IS A KIDS SHOW? HOLY CRAP. True, it's a kid's show. I mean, you've got your flashy transformation scenes, and the hero fighting monsters and whatever, but in an average episode? That "scene" is like, 1-3 minutes long. Literally. The entire episode focuses on like, the inter character drama and all that. And I was just in awe. Because it got better. INCREDIBLY CHEESY, but oh so good.
And so I've been busy lately, but I was able to watch the final five episodes tonight, and LET ME TELL YOU. LIKE WOW. Mio (the girl that Wataru falls in love with), is KILLED. BY WATARU HIMSELF. AND IT WAS LIKE WOW. Because Wataru's half brother Taiga intended to marry her and there was all this drama and Mio really loved Wataru and she wanted to kill Taiga because he was really the evil bad guy. AND THEN WATARU GOES BACK IN TIME TO TRY TO PREVENT HIS BIRTH TO SAVE MIO'S LIFE. But in doing so they incur the wrath of King from the past and oh my there's way too much to go over. And the way I'm describing it now makes it seem like some cheesy soap opera but whoa. For a kid's show? All this drama and romance and like, people dying and stuff? From something that's supposed to be like Power Rangers?
I'm sure you've seen Power Rangers. Evil villains are like, "We need to take over the world! Let's send a new monster!" And they do. Then the Power Rangers come out, save the day, and we learn a valuable life lesson.
Typical episode of Kamen Rider Kiva? Wataru can't fight Taiga because, after all, they're brothers. Taiga tells him he's weak, and tells him to come fight him again when he's sure to come at him with everything he's got (continuing the 3 minute fight scene from the previous episode.) Mio (the girl that both Wataru and Taiga are both in love with), continues to press Taiga into marriage. Taiga agrees, and they have the ceremony like, right away. This is where Mio stabs Taiga. In the stomach. She realizes then, that she can't go through with it, and runs away. Bishop tries to stop her, but Taiga tells him that Mio didn't do anything wrong, and that it was an accident. Meanwhile, something's up with Shima, the leader of the Aozora Organization. Nago, Megumi, and Wataru follow him to find out that Taiga turned him into a monster! But before they can do anything about it, Taiga KILLS HIM. Wataru goes into an angry rage and fights Taiga. Mio watches from a nearby hill and realizes she has mixed feelings and doesn't really want to kill Taiga. Pretty soon, Wataru gains the upper hand and is about to kill Taiga, but Mio jumps in the way saying NO. The episode ends with her death.
Oh, and that's only HALF the show. Because like I said, there's like, TWO shows going on. We've got the past story too, right? Nothing really happened in the past though. Maya (Taiga and Wataru's mother) and Yuri (Otoya's ex-girlfriend) saved Otoya (Wataru's father) from being killed by King (Taiga's father.)
Seriously. How much more epic is this? AND EVERY EPISODE IS LIKE THIS. In the next episode alone we find Bishop's fall from power when he revealed that he had a hand in Mio's death, how Otoya and Maya finally got together, Wataru and his father's fated meeting (because he died before he was born, which was shown later on), and etc. And of course short little fight at the end. Heh. But yeah. American Power Rangers, this is not.
**SPOILERS END**
Well, I finally finished that show. Good stuff. A new Kamen Rider called Kamen Rider Decade came out but I dunno if I'm going to watch it. I tried other Kamen Riders but it seems like they're more focused on the whole fighting monsters and stopping evil thing. Which is cool and all, but eh. I'm not really in the mood for action stuffs lately. Heartwarming dramas, that's the way to go.
Which reminds me, I'm going to suggest to each and every one of you to watch a movie called Happy Go Lucky. YES, it's rated R for language, but it's fast becoming quite possibly my favoritest movie of all time. It's a GOOD MOVIE. I went in expecting some romantic comedy but it was not, let me tell you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdjb98LOuEw Here's a trailer in case you're interested. But I recommend it. Really.
SOOOOOOOOO. HOW ABOUT SOME REAL NEWS?
I got contacts. =O
My mom doesn't know I got them. LoL. I don't know how I've been able to keep it from her, but she hasn't said anything, and I'm pretty sure she doesn't know that I have contacts. According to "everyone", I look really different. And it's true, I've always looked really different without my glasses. The only person I've ever actually had long conversations without my glasses with was Sarah, and she always said I looked better without them. So yeah. That's something new. Something new indeed.
I don't know when I'm going to break the news to my mother. I don't really know how to. Just like I don't know how to tell her I'm going to Toronto this summer. Ahahahaha.
Hoo boy. Fun times. Work's been work. It's late, I should go to sleep. Ah well, more news later. I covered the title already. WOO KIVA?

Ah, Kamen Rider. One of my classmates in Japanese keeps raving about how great it is but I never really paid much attention to it (since it's so... Power Rangers and all). I might start though. After school finishes preferably. Or else I'm screwed.
You still haven't told your mom...? OTL
Kamen Rider...somehow sounds ridiculously familiar but can't remember where from.
My question is why are you hiding the contact thing on purpose, if at all...
